Spell Catalogue

This is an attempt to catalogue all the Errant Story spells in one place. Slamlander 02:00, 22 January 2007 (CST)

This is awesome... But I think Poe is worried about people naming spells after too much D&D type stuff. Since he hasn't named most of the spells, should we have a special marker or something for assumed names versus in-comic names? --Impy 23:58, 27 January 2007 (CST)

I hadn't thought about it since I haven't played D&D for almost 20 years. I don't know the spell names in D&D. Although, some of the names may be excessively obvious. I'm going by what I know about general magic and parapsychology, plus bits of various fantasy realms, to come up with logical names when I need them. Poe is always free to come in here and edit anything he wants ;) -- Slamlander 02:10, 28 January 2007 (CST)

Impy's point is well taken, but OTOH, when Meji calls what she's threatening to use a "Fireball," who are we to argue? My philosophy when creating the original list was to use what the characters said when casting, if possible, and if not, then to come up with something descriptive. Can your husband :-) be more explicit about the concerns? "Fireball," to name one, was around for a long time before D&D -- since August 1945 at the least... -- Graybeard 08:09, 28 January 2007 (CST)
I agree. My default is to always use the name that the character uses. Only then will I invoke the process I mentioned earlier. BTW, I think Doc Strange used Lightning Bolt way back when. Also, Edgar Cayce came up with a lot of popular names. D&D doesn't have a lock on a lot of the spell names because they were used prior to their [D&D's] existance, if that's what you're worried about. -- Slamlander 09:50, 28 January 2007 (CST)
