ER:Bryce

A character in the Errant Road on-line free-form role-playing game, generally portrayed by Porcelain Fish. He isn't exactly a player character, yet not an NPC either. Would the term "henchman" sound too much like he's from some other role-playing game that we won't mention? Whatever you call him, he doesn't exist in the Poe-verse.
This fellow, whose full handle is Corporal Bryce Canyon, was a member of the Veracian military peacefully standing guard in the canyon containing the Absonial, when a bunch of curious characters entered his life -- Sister Rose, for one, having been set the mission of retrieving the Artifact and seeing safely into official hands. This wouldn't normally have led to promotion of Corporal Canyon beyond NPC status, but he caught the eye (and vice versa) of PC Maduin, traveling with the party, and it rapidly developed that the two were capable of giving each other precisely the kind of romantic entanglements they'd been hoping for. Bryce and Maduin have been an Item ever since, although not without a tiff or two.
Bryce is now traveling with Maduin, Rose and the rest of the party, as they wander the boonies of west central Veracia. At first there were some small concerns connected with him being a suspect in the mysterious deaths of Avner Indianel, the professor overseeing the dig near Gervasiel that turned up the Artifact of Absonial, and his assistant and lover, Rebekah Codoin. However, he's now been exonerated of those murders. Some time in his past, he struck violent sparks off the unpleasant Sister Bree, who was dispatched by the Cardinal Inquisitor to investigate the deaths of Avner and Rebekah. Bree herself has now joined the ranks of the Living Impaired, meaning that whatever nastiness she'd been whipping up for Bryce is on hold, at least for the time being.
