Clovius is a medium-sized town in the northern reaches of the Northern Confederacy. Its location makes it a point of contact between human civilization and that of the trolls, which have come to an uneasy truce. There are some mild social oddities to the place as a result, which isn't a big surprise; most everywhere that we know of in the Northern Confederacy have one cultural oddity or another, and Clovius is downright civilized compared to, say, Goriel, where the player characters spent a great deal of time before "escaping" to this town.
Adventurers Sister Rose, Argus, Desiree, Brother Timothy, etc., pause here for a while following the climactic (yet curiously anticlimactic) action in the Far North involving the sinister Convergence and its destruction by NPC Father Amalric. En route to town, they have a near-miss involving a battle between a band of trolls and what appears to be a dragon. Most of those involved are more than happy to just rest up and then head on south, which is expedited by Argus' old friend(!?), smuggler Dess Marson. Tim, however, stays behind to assume the role of priest to the small temple of Luminosita in town, which has fallen on hard times. Presumably this becomes his own "happily ever after" story, although Clovius isn't necessarily the kind of place conducive to such stories.
