ER:Kobold

A sentient race in the Errant Road free-form on-line role-playing game. As far as is known, they don't exist in the Poe-verse, although Ellis, during the short period between his explosive transformation out of his usual flying-cat familiar shape and his unfortunate demise at the hands (literally) of the enraged (and Anilisized) Ian Samael, had more than a superficial resemblance to the race.

The basic concept for the kobolds is here (see under "Cat People"). Indeed, the race resembles the classical catgirl much more than the classical kobold of high fantasy. They are humanoid, bipedal, etc., of shorter than typical human height and with various anatomical features that set them apart from humans. Basically, they look like, well, catgirls. Males of the race exist but are rare, for reasons explained in the Forum entry. They are native to the Southern Continent, although certain warped humans cause them to be imported in human territory for various revolting reasons.

Player character Tamina is a kobold. When PC Jamie rescues her from one of those revolting import situations in Lorrel, they go off to have all manner of merry adventures on the Southern Continent involving the kobolds' hereditary enemies, the Ralkin; a nasty magical plague; assorted monsters too numerous to mention; and scariest of all, Jamie's mother.

The kobolds of Errant Road have nothing whatever to do with the ones in Does Not Play Well With Others. They're mammalian rather than reptilian, cute rather than disgusting, no more evil than most sentient beings, and generally, all-around nicer.
