A minor NPC in the Errant Road on-line free-form role-playing game. Needless to say, he doesn't exist in the Poe-verse, although others like him do.
This rather unpleasant fellow is on the faculty of the Sashi Mu Academy of Thaumaturgy and Conjuration, which has not yet appeared in Errant Road except in a few asides. He appears to be representative of the professors there in many ways: highly magically adept, and rather full of himself. He enters the story when a menacing artifact (a desk from the mission in Kiyoka) is sent to Sashi Mu for study, after a couple of people who were messing around with it inexplicably dropped dead. Professor Dirienzal's great forte is Divination magic, making him a logical choice to lead the investigation of the desk; however, all he really learns of it is that there is something about it that literally knocks him on his ass, then disappears. This, it is fair to say, gives him pause. However, at least he survives the encounter, which is more than can be said of his faculty colleague, Professor Damyo, who attempts a clandestine study of his own, and joins the ranks of the thing's victims.
He is known and disliked by PC Argus Cleiviein, and the feeling is mutual. Argus' familiar Harker appears to have some dirt on the guy that comes in handy at one point. He hasn't meet any of the other PCs that we know of, although semi-PC Brother Farley and his fiancee Kristi Yugawa get to observe the good professor during his forensic studies.
