Chris is the stereotypical RPG-type, who is constantly asking for people to "join his party" to go with him on an adventure to join the legendary Ensigerum. Chris is under the impression that his long lost father Correl was an Ensigerum monk in good standing. However the Ensigerum teachers know differently and decide to make his life more than difficult (and potentially short) because of his father's supposed betrayal of the Ensigerum.

He is obviously not terribly bright.

His first appearance turns out to be important to plot advancement, because in it he's getting brutalized, and perhaps sodomized, by a band of thugs in Saus. Meji Hinadori, for not altogether altruistic reasons, breaks up the mugging with some spectacularly violent magic (then has to resort to invisbility to escape the effusively grateful Chris) that becomes known to the populace of Saus, growing in the telling. This provides Sarine Elle with the clue that she's on the trail of an Errant and propels her toward the fateful encounter with Meji and Jon.

Chris has been spending part of his time getting beaten up by Sara Amraphel and part of his time chatting her up. Her memory of him in a trance-induced flashback isn't terribly flattering, so he's not making much headway, it would seem. In any event, since she's run off with her brother to the forbidden city and beyond, he's out of luck with her, at least for the time being. His day-to-day service to the Ensigerum includes acting as orderly to semi-divine visitors.

Errant Road connection?

Chris himself, like almost all other significant characters in Errant Story, doesn't appear directly in the Errant Road free-form on-line role-playing game, which is derived from Errant Story's world. However, there's an interesting Errant Road episode in a place called "Leonish" that hosted some breakaway time-ninja group and was burned to the ground by the Ensigerum, with the slaughter of all therein (except for a few interesting refugees). Might this Leonish have been the place founded by his father? Possibly, hard to say, but in any case, it doesn't appear per se in the Poe-verse.
