An elf is pretty much like a human, only immortal, magical, and better in every conceivable way. Also they have pointy ears for some reason. Also they're mostly jerks. They were created by the gods Anilis and Senilis. Elves can interbreed with humans, producing the imaginatively named half-elves, or Errants.

There are four elven races, although they've intermingled with one another so much that there's basically no difference between them other than their names, which they continue to use like jerks would.

They don't use simple names like "wood elves" and "dark elves," either. No, they use gratuitously hard to remember names like "Rinkai Erufu." Stupid jerks.
