Saturday Filler Infodump: After The Barrier Fell…
Saturday Filler Infodump: After The Barrier Fell…

There was great confusion in the days following Veracia’s disaster at the Elven Barrier.  The Priests of Luminosita were doubly occupied dealing with damage control on Luminosita itself and with the public relations mess it caused.  And that task only became harder when an Elven delegation came strolling right into Emerylon. Given all that, it really was no wonder that, at the time, no one bothered to pay any attention when a few Farrel sailors began claiming to have seen a giant floating object in the skies while fishing.

Praenubilus Astu suffered quite a bit of damage when the magical shock wave from the Barrier’s destruction hit them.  Thousands of years old magical devices were permanently destroyed from the wave.  Despite that, the elves were more surprised than angered at the event.  In an unusual act of haste, the Elven Great Houses took only days to decide that not only would they not strike back at the human civilization that had just rudely kicked down their door, or attempt to rebuild the Barrier… they would, instead, actually take the opportunity to poke their heads out of their fancy hole and meet with the humans…

…in a fashion that would totally remind the stupid little mortal peons who their betters were, of course.

There was quite a bit of culture shock during the Elves first visit to Emerylon.  The church had spent quite a few years painting the then absent elves as terrible, fey creatures that were the enemies of Luminosita… so there was a lot of rapid reconing of church canon that had to be done when it became obvious that the elves were here to stay.  Likewise, the Elven dignitaries were forced to show amazing restraint and control when they found out one of the cardinals assigned to meet with them was a half-elf (several generations removed of course).  In fact, it was a whole seven months before Cardinal Gerimel finally vanish under unexplained circumstances. But despite all these early missteps, a very public display of peace, understanding, and friendship between the Elves and Veracia was formed and the elves returned to Praenubilus Astu.  In the following weeks, more Elven ambassadors would be sent out to other parts of the world and (covertly) several dozen Rangers would also leave the hidden city on missions to seek out and eliminate the half elves still in the outside world.

After that, things quieted down just enough, for people to finally start paying attention to other parts of the world.   Which is when the discovery of Tsuiraku, took everyone, even the elves, by surprise.  And Veracia would soon come to consider the hassle caused by the elves nothing compared to the massive upheaval the appearance of the floating city would cause them.
