One element that I dropped from my early plans for Errant Story was the concept that the gods would slowly have a physiological effect on Meji and Ian. There are still little traces of this here and there, Ian’s ears becoming longer and more elf sized, etc, but originally there were going to be far more drastic changes.
Ian would have gotten the least of it, no gender change or anything like that; (though that was a reoccurring joke on the forums) but he would get longer and longer ears and eventually fulfill his Final RPG Boss destiny by even growing a set (or three)of angel wings. He also might have become more and more ‘bishy’ as the story progressed, I don’t recall.
Meji, on the hand, would undergo quite a lot of changes. It would start with just a bit of growth in a few favorable areas and ear enlargement much like Ian, the first few times she uses her newfound power. But the changes would begin to get weirder as the story advances. Blue skin, antlers, animal legs, all the way to her becoming some sort of winged-drow-deer-centaur thing by the big end fight.
I actually went back and forth on using this a lot, while the comic was running, but eventually completely ditched it, as Meji reacting to the changes would have added too many extra pages and I soon wrote that whole Future Meji Dream Sequence bit that everyone hates, which took her reactions to Senilis in a different direction. Plus, I can’t draw god damn hordes to save my life, which would have made drawing Meji in the last couple of chapters a bit of a problem.
