I read Ozymandias in a textbook when I was maybe 17 or something, and I thought it was interesting and wanted to use it. I once did a very large, shitty painting involving the poem and almost had an aneurysm trying to remix the exact same color for the sky and the sand. Then I got really annoyed because my art teacher told me it didn’t matter, even though it really did, and anyway that is why I use digital now.
I particularly liked the contrast between the two pieces on this page, although to this day I still have no idea what the guy who wrote that second one was on about (or on) at the time. I don’t know where that window design came from, either, I just put a bunch of random shapes together in Photoshop, but it looks interesting so I kept using it this whole time.
Although the page really does set the tone for the whole comic, that’s mostly a coincidence, because I didn’t care about that at all at the time. Really, you have no idea how often that happens to me.
