A significant NPC in the Errant Road free-form on-line role-playing game. Needless to say, he doesn't exist in the Poe-verse.
Joe is a member of the Gewehr who has been in charge of starting up a new Gewehr operation in the Farrelian city of Rinkaiel, on Farrel's north coast. In this role he's Layla's point of contact when she moves to town to start taking magic lessons (and open a winery, not to mention try to get over the death of her husband, with which she's coping admirably, it must be said). He rapidly makes himself part of Layla's entourage, becoming what can only be described as her "henchman," in which role he has somehow managed to avoid the messy death that overtakes most Gewehr underlings in Errant Road.
He's a rather nondescript sort, more of a front-office guy than a fighter; at least he has been less likely to get involved in gunplay than the typical Gewehr henchman. (This probably has something to do with how he's lasted so long.) He does seem to be good at the administrative stuff, as he knows where things and people are and has been able to help Layla settle in and make contacts. He is now interacting reasonably comfortably with Jade and the rest of the Silver Hand gang, so he seems to have some "people" skills as well. All told, he's a useful guy to have around, if not as personally interesting as Layla and some of her other minions, probably.
