Jon's mom was a single mother trying to raise Jon and Sara. She was pregnant with a third Amraphel sibling, whose fate is unrevealed. She disapproved of Jon's criminal activities and forbade him to associate with her or Sara ever again. Research by the Ensigerum has determined that she "died of some illness" (at birth of missing child #3, perhaps?), landing Sara in the orphanage from which the Ensigerum rescued her. Some "rescue"!
Jon and Sara's mom has only appeared in a flashback in chapter 7 so far.
