In the Poe-verse, a Glyph is a magical gadget for detecting things -- like, say, non-elves trying to get into Praenubilus Astu. Sarine describes the function of glyphs here, as she's trying to think of a way to get herself, Jon and Sara into Praenubilus Astu to rescue the imprisoned Meji (and Ellis). Think of them as a big burglar alarm/intrusion-detection system.
When Meji sets off the Dispel Trap at the Heretic Knowledge Vault, there's an audible click before the trap itself functions. This may be a glyph reacting to her invisible presence. Or not.
