As of February 2008, the action is in the Ensigerum village, where Imperatrix Anita is in the middle of a mind-bogglingly risky sparring bout with Ian.  This came about after he'd decided to cooperate with her in a crusade against the elves, and then interpreted her offer of a duel -- "you want to have a go at it?" -- in a slightly ... different ... way than Anita really intendedAll was clarified, Anita landed some (pulled) punches on him, he flew off the magical handle and threw her into a wall, she's scolding him for losing control, and there the matter rests.

Meanwhile, back in the Elven Territories, Sarine has artfully talked her way out of serious trouble (for the Amraphels as well as herself) after being intercepted by a patrol under the command of the officious Rhee, a possible pereginA very slight tweaking of the truth has gained her, Jon and Sara an (unwanted) armed escort to a safe house in Praenubilus Astu -- not her house, which she would have preferred, but you can't have everything.  En route to this turn of events, Sara got to show off her time-ninja skillz by breaking the nose of one unsuspecting elf (Rhee) and the arm of another one, and also to pose an agrammatical but entirely comprehensible and menacing challenge in the elvish language.  (This made something of an impression on the elves, who'd been treating her with dangerously ignorant contempt -- it's not a good idea to call someone a "cow" if they can vivisect you in milliseconds.) Of course, the puffed-up elves had it coming, but Sarine has shown what a sweetheart she is at heart by healing their injuries while a Viradior in the patrol was off getting orders from the elven high command.  This band was last seen heading into the skyless city, to coin a phrase, while Sarine fusses about how this way of getting in was exactly what she was trying to avoidOnce again, that's just the way she is.  At least she got the satisfaction of facing down the Viradior guy who went to get the orders from high command, which apparently doesn't happen every day -- the Viradior were apparently a lot tougher in the Good Old Days.

All told, the long, exciting Errant Story ride is coming to an end.  Impy (who, we're delighted to report, is back among the living) has posted a time line of the Poe-verse that includes references to many stories and tales yet to come, so there'll still be more when Errant Story itself wraps upAnd, of course, Errant Road continues to be full of interesting charactersSo life in the Poe-verse is still pretty good, really.

Of Meji and Ellis, no news, so they're presumably still singing the jailhouse blues -- off key, no doubt.

As of 6 March 2012, time has advanced indefinitely into the future -- a future where, of all improbable things, a stunningly beautiful Sarine is actually smiling. This unprecedented phenomenon shows up at the start of the Epilogue, where Sarine is relating the history of the Poe-verse now that the Age of Meji has started. (We've learned that that is the term for the age that started when Meji defeated Ianilis; see Eras of Errant Story for an explanation of the various ages and epochs.) Of course, that history isn't entirely without complications. Meji has apparently succeeded in repairing much of the damage that Ian caused, and has forged some bonds that will keep the elves from ever attacking Santuariel again. That's all good, presumably. On the other hand, she has also tried to create a new earthly paradise by raising the sunken city of Malacia from the sea bed, and Sarine is implying that that didn't go completely smoothly. Details are still lacking, however.

All told, the long, exciting Errant Story ride is coming to an end. Impy (who, we're delighted to report, is back among the living) has posted a time line of the Poe-verse that includes references to many stories and tales yet to come, so there'll still be more when Errant Story itself wraps up. And, of course, Errant Road continues to be full of interesting characters. So life in the Poe-verse is still pretty good, really.
